1 Raja-raja 5:9

5:9 My servants will bring the timber down from Lebanon to the sea. I will send it by sea in raft-like bundles to the place you designate. ¹  There I will separate the logs ²  and you can carry them away. In exchange you will supply the food I need for my royal court.” ³ 

1 Raja-raja 11:33

11:33 I am taking the kingdom from him ⁴  because they have ⁵  abandoned me and worshiped the Sidonian goddess Astarte, the Moabite god Chemosh, and the Ammonite god Milcom. They have not followed my instructions ⁶  by doing what I approve and obeying my rules and regulations, like Solomon’s father David did. ⁷ 

1 Raja-raja 19:11

19:11 The Lord ⁸  said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord. Look, the Lord is ready to pass by.”

A very powerful wind went before the Lord, digging into the mountain and causing landslides, ⁹  but the Lord was not in the wind. After the windstorm there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

[5:9]  ¹ tn Heb “I will place them [on? as?] rafts in the sea to the place where you designate to me.” This may mean he would send them by raft, or that he would tie them in raft-like bundles, and have ships tow them down to an Israelite port.

[5:9]  ² tn Heb “smash them,” i.e., untie the bundles.

[5:9]  ³ tn Heb “as for you, you will satisfy my desire by giving food for my house.”

[11:33]  ⁴ tn The words “I am taking the kingdom from him” are supplied in the translation for clarification.
